Met Police: We will use “every power” to stop riots

With reports of as many as 30 planned protests across the capital city today, the Metropolitan Police in London have said that they will use “every power, tactic and tool” at their disposal to keep the city safe and will “not hesitate to arrest hundreds more” if necessary.

This comes. after a week and a half of racially motivated, anti-immigration protests that have on a number of occasions turned violent.

Update: 14:18 UK Time
The BBC are reporting ๐Ÿ”— that local businesses across England are boarding up their storefronts in preparation of potential violence with up to 100 local protests expected across the country this evening.

Update: 15:19 UK Time
The BBC reports ๐Ÿ”— that more than 140 people have now been charged with offences since early last week with the National Police Chiefs Council expecting that number to rise significantly in the coming days.
