Canadian PM Mark Carney announced today that the 45th Canadian Federal Election will take place on April 28th 2025. While other parties exist, the election will largely be a two-horse race between the Liberal Party under Mark Carney or the Conservatives under Pierre Polievre.
For those who haven’t been keeping track, this election is just the next hurdle in a very busy year of politics in Canada. In the past few months we’ve already seen:
- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resign while somehow also uniting every Canadian premier (except Danielle Smith)
- President Donald Trump start a trade war with Canada, Mexico and pretty much anyone else he doesn’t like
- Prime Minister Mark Carney win the Liberal Party leadership contest by an absolute landslide
- Conservative Leader Pierre Polievre somehow lose a staggering 25 point lead in the polls
