Explosion at French synagogue considered Terrorism

  • Two cars were set on fire outside of the Beth Yaacov synagogue in the southern-French town of La Grande-Motte. One contained a “hidden” gas cannister which exploded
  • Police sources say that the suspect was male, was carrying a Palestinian flag and possibly a handgun
  • One police officer was injured in the explosion which local Jewish leader Yonathan Arfi said was “an attempt to murder Jews”
  • The attack follows an incident in May where a different synagogue in Rouen, France was set on fire by a man who was then shot dead by police
